We will be producing a temperature stable Phycocyanin blue dye using a extremophilic algae
We are developing a way to grow Galdieria suphuraria, an extremophilic unicellular species of red algae, under heterotr. It is the type species of the genus Galdieria. It is known for its broad metabolic capacities, including photosynthesis and heterotrophic growth.
Phycocyanin is a pigment-protein complex that biological functions cooperatively with chlorophyll in photosynthesis. This protein promises to contribute to a variety of interesting and useful products.
